DENTAL HEALTH

Routine Dental Health Examinations

At Michael D. Clark DDS, our team will provide comprehensive dental treatments for keeping your teeth healthy.  Routine cleanings and examinations with Dr. Clark will help you maintain your oral health. Brushing and flossing regularly will help prevent  periodontal issues including gum disease that can destroy the roots of your teeth, gingivitis, and more.

Professional  Cleaning & Exam

Daily brushing and flossing will keep your teeth healthy, however there will still be a buildup of plaque and calculus in places that your toothbrush cannot reach.  A professional cleaning from one of our highly trained hygienists will remove calculus in places your toothbrush and floss have missed. Routine cleanings are vital to maintaining healthy teeth and gums throughout your life.

Periodontal Maintenance

Periodontal diseases are infections of the gums that destroy the support of your teeth. There are numerous disease entities requiring different treatment approaches. Dental plaque is the primary cause of gum disease. Daily brushing and flossing will prevent most periodontal conditions. Additional examinations and cleanings will help prevent gum diseases and will help monitor any problems detected during examination.

Family Dentistry

A child's first dental visit is typically recommended to occur just after the child turns three. The first dental visit is usually short and involves very little treatment. Building trust with Dr. Clark is very important, so you may also be asked to wait in the reception area during part of the visit so that a relationship can be built between your child and Dr. Clark.

We will very carefully and gently examine your child’s teeth and gums. X-rays may be taken (to reveal decay and check on the progress of your child’s permanent teeth under the gums). We may clean your child’s teeth and apply topical fluoride to protect the teeth against decay. We will make sure your child is receiving adequate fluoride at home. After our examination is complete, we will review with you how to clean and care for your child’s teeth.

Preventive Care

Be proactive in your dental health by following good preventive care practices. Daily brushing, flossing and routine visits to Dr. Clark will ensure your teeth are healthy, clean, and white.
